Tutorial - Altered Pringle Lantern

Simply start by adhering patterned paper to the outside surface of the Pringle Can.

To make the bands of the lattern,  simple cut coordinating papers into strip and adhere it with double sided tape as shown.

When you have finished with the circumference of the lantern,  this is what your semi-finished lantern should look like.

Add bands on top and bottom of the lantern.  You could always do this by just adhering a coordinating piece of paper and sticking in onto the top and bottom. This is to further enhance the lantern and hide all the strips of paper.

To make a simple handle, simply make 2 holes on opposite ends of the can first by using the Crop-a-Dile or the Big Bite.

I have fashioned handles made out of pearls and beads.  But you could do the same with just reinforced patterned paper.

Voila - your completed lanterns....

This is a real funny name huh? - An  Altered Pringle Lantern.  For those who know me - you would remember last year's Halloween altered can for trick or treating.  I have decided to alter a Pringle's can this year for our next chinese festival on sunday which is the Mooncake Festival. If you are interested in reading what is a mooncake festival, pls go to the the wikipedia encyclopedia here.

Traditionally,  the kids would parade around with their lit lanterns whilst the older folks eat mooncakes whilst admiring the full moon.  To further reiterate the "green" message,  I have decided to alter a Pringles container as a lantern. My kids had fun making this simple lantern and I hope you will like it too.
