Covering naked rings in your album {Using Ribbons}

One of the ways to cover the naked metal ring in your albums will be to use ribbons.  This is relatively easy. Just cut short strands of ribbons and tie them onot the rings and viola - you have a perfectly decorated album and it hides the ugly bare metal rings.

Tip and Tech - using a sand block

Some of you may wonder what the sanding block is for.  The answer is that the sanding block is used to distress paper.  All you have to do is to sand the paper as per photo and you will end up with paper that looks distressed.  You can also finish the look by adding distress inks.

Tip n Tech - Adding Fabric to Layouts

I find that by adding some fabrics to your layouts - you add more character to your layouts or album.  Most often some of us are reluctant to use ribbons etc on a boyish layout. Hence, the next alternative would be to use some fabrics.  I have cut some scraps of fabric and tied them onto the album.  Try it some time.

Tips and Tech - Make believe Snow

When I first saw this at Yatie's blog - I couldn't help myself and started calling her to tell her that I would love to feature this layout.  What a fun and imaginative layout - fancy having SNOW in a tropical country like ours.

Yatie was inspired by Tim  Holtz in his blog post on how to make snow and decided to do a layout on it.  I love how playful the layout turn out to be and for her imagination of creating snow in Malaysia.  Please head over to her blog for the techniques on how to duplicate this technique.

Tips and Tech - Distressing paper

One easy way of distressing paper is just to tear it.  Another simple way would be to tear the paper with your bare hands which I did with the paper on top. Alternatively - you can opt to use a paper distresser as pictured on top - this Paper Distresser tool is by Tim Holtz.

Tips n Tech - Jazzing up your lace trim

I bought this lace trim and it seemed too white to be used by itself.  Hence I decided to lace through some ribbons to tone down the whiteness and give it some character.  I later added some pearls intermittently to further enhance it.  Hope you like this small tip.

Happy New Year - New Beginnings

A brand new year has dawned upon us.  What is your New Year's resolutions?  Well mine is to keep maintaining this blog with more tips and techniques coming soon.  A simple tip today:

I have just finished a simple album today.  Instead of a store bought album,  I have used some plain 6 x 6 chipboard which I have lying around and I have bound it with keychain beads instead of normal rings.  Do you have another way of binding your album?  If you do,  please email us at chowchow138@gmail.com.  We will be most happy to publish it.
